CONCLUDING OF THE SILVER JUBILEE YEAR AT THE PROVINCIALATE
The day had dawned, 16th August 2021, of the silver historical period of shining achievements, to draw the curtain on the silver jubilee celebrations of the province, in order to open the horizon to new opportunities of ventures for each member, to a golden age ahead. On this memorable occasion, we the Fransalians with deep gratitude and humility before God for His unfathomable love, through the Immaculate Heart of the Mother of Sorrow, offered our hearts, all our works and achievements to our loving God. The grand concluding celebration began with the Holy Eucharistic celebrated by His Grace Elias Gonsalves, Archbishop of Nagpur. The main concelebrants were Rev. Fr. J. B. Muthuswamy, Provincial of Nagpur Province, Rev. Fr. Jayaseelan, Provincial of Pune Province and Rev. Fr. Jerome Pinto, V.G. of Nagpur Archdiocese. Members of the Apostolic Community of Nagpur, Rev. Sister Provincials of different Religious Congregations, collaborators, and well-wishers joined for the celebration. We thanked and praised God for His innumerable blessings and constant guidance which inspired us as leaders and missionaries, filled with zeal and enthusiasm, with positive attitude and self-sacrifice, in order to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to all people, especially among the Tribal communities, the poor and those on the peripheries of the society of different states of India and Mozambique, Africa. The erstwhile Maharashtra-Goa Province has divided 25 years ago into Nagpur and Pune Provinces. During this short period of 25 years, Nagpur Province trod on smooth and rough surfaces of life, made major contributions in the Pastoral, Educational and Innovative ministries, and increased three-fold in the number of its members.
At the end of the Eucharist during the short felicitation program, the dignitaries present were honored and each gave a short message, especially commending the MSFS for their valuable contribution to the growth of the Church. The next venue was the dining hall. The table was well laid with delicious food items prepared by the Apostolic Community. After the cutting of the jubilee cake, Rev. Fr. J. B. Muthuswamy thanked Almighty God for His blessings and expressed his sincere gratitude to all the participants, especially to the Nagpur Apostolic Community members for making it a meaningful celebration. The celebration concluded with a thanksgiving hymn.
REPORT OF MISSION FORUM MEETING
On 23rd August 2021 the Mission Forum meeting was held at 3.45 pm. The resource person was none other than our beloved Rev. Dr. Johnson Kallidukil MSFS, the General Secretary for Mission. Rev. Dr. Domy Thomas MSFS, the Councilor in charge of the Mission Forum invited the members, and Fr. Bijay Kerketta led the members in prayer. Fr. Peter Dominic welcomed everybody, especially the speaker of the day Fr. Johnson, and our Provincial Rev. Fr. J. B. Muthuswamy.  Rev. Dr. Johnson Kallidukil spoke on the topic: “Priesthood is the Capacity to Relate: Mission is the right measure and manner of relationship. He summarized his talk in 7 points:

1. Right rootedness leads to right relatedness.
2. Eucharist is the highest form of communication.
3. To be a shepherd one needs to be a good sheep.
4. Our people are more or less the way we are because they become what we give them.
5. Where is my umbilical cord connected to?
6. Communicate and give to God, to self, and to others the right things, at the right time, in the right manner.
7. Gathering in 12 baskets is fine, but do not gather before the people are satisfied.

After the interaction with the resource person, Fr. Provincial addressed everyone. At the very outset, he appreciated and applauded the Mission Forum for the full house attendance, even by those in other parts of the globe. This year being the Year of the Mission, we need to adopt in our ministry the various proposals given by the Superior General. During this pandemic, each one is called to be creative in every way, and to be active in reaching out to our people. Our people are going through hard times and we need to find ways to collaborate and catechize them. This year we need to help and take care of those families that are badly affected. Our initiative should be to help and bring them closer to the sacraments by counseling. As Parish Priests we need to be resourceful and as shepherds have the smell of the sheep. Registers kept in the parish office have to be properly maintained. Though the situation is challenging we need to win over and encourage everyone. Fr. Provincial was very positive that all are moving in the right direction; even though slowly still we are moving ahead. He concluded by expressing words of appreciation.

The General Chapter 1995 decided to divide the Province of Maharashtra-Goa into two Provinces and authorized the Superior General and his Council to work out the modalities of the division and complete the process before 15th August 1996. The division of M.G.Province should enhance the present missionary work and ensure continuity and growth of the congregation in a spirit of unity and collaboration. According to the decision taken by the General Chapter 1995 to divide the Province of Maharashtra-Goa, is divided into two provinces, to be known as Pune Province and Nagpur Province. 

The division of the Province of Maharashtra- Goa, as decided by the General Chapter 1995, formally came into effect on 10th August 1996 for Pune Province and on 15th August 1996 for Nagpur Province. Thus Nagpur Province came into existence on 15th August 1996.

The province inherited a very rich tradition of missionary legacy coupled with the struggle and sacrifices of missionaries of yesteryears. Our expansion in foreign mission consist of our missionary undertakings in Mozambique, Africa and now in North Indian tribal dioceses. On 15th August 1996, the new Provincial, Fr. Joseph Pottemmel, took charge of Nagpur Province and later Frs. Joseph Pullopillil, Sebastian Annaikandathil, Jacob Karamakuzhyil and now the present Provincial is Fr. John Britto Muthuswamy.
