A MISSIONARY OF ST FRANCIS DE SALES  IS...

A man of living faith who is deeply in love with God.

He is in daily communion with Him, through the Eucharist, the sun of
religious existence, as well as through his awareness of His presence.

This love of God is shown in his love for his neighbour and for the entire
creation.

’I want mission”  cry of the Founder is the clarion call to him to make Jesus known and loved; to be his missionary to build a more just, humane and caring society,

He is a confident optimist who is aware that God is present in his life, in
his community, and in the events of history.

He lives the salesian charism of joyful holiness, firm gentleness, and
positive regard for the other, with hospitality, cheerful availability and
genuine humanness.

The Good News of God’s love is made known through his witness in
the form of service to humanity.

Knowledge is his eight sacrament.

He is a realist who is well equipped to read the signs of the times.

He has his feet planted firmly on the ground, while reaching for the
skies.

He is a man who is open to and lives the culture of the people,
courageous to respond to their needs.

He is a committed messenger of hope, filled with missionary zeal.
And all this in firm solidarity with is confreres, the missionaries of St Francis de Sales.

The MSFS PERSONAL SPIRITUAL DIRECTORY is a practical guide to help us “Live Jesus” in the midst of daily life. St. Francis de Sales believed that we can never engineer our own journey toward holiness. God has placed in us a spiritual desire, our deepest and true desire, that drives us toward Him. “He always chooses us and seizes us before we choose Him and take hold of Him” (SFS). 

Spiritual Directory will guide us in applying the wisdom of St. Francis de Sales to our varied life situations. It will help us to stay focused on seeing and responding to God’s loving presence each day. We are then ready to share God’s goodness with others.

To recall the words of St. Francis de Sales, “no one can be united with God unless he goes to Him. No one can go to him unless he is attracted by Him”. Spiritual Directory is designed to respond to the attraction that God gives us so that we can go to Him and be united with Him.

This well prepared adaptation of the spiritual directory of St. Francis de Sales will be released on August 21, 2017 on the occasion of 450th birth anniversary of St. Francis de Sales. Every soul that ‘longs for the running streams’ will be blessed while walking in the footsteps of this Doctor of the Church and Apostle of Chablais.
